Alice Lee Cox of Belle died Friday, December 31, 2010 at the age of 69. She was a casualty of a December storm as a tornado passed through Rolla at about 10:30 on Friday morning. Alice was visiting a very dear friend in Rolla, Mo.
Alice was born May 27, 1941 to the late Hershel Reed and Zillah Reed in High Gate, Mo.
On May 26, 1958 Alice married Arthur Cox and to this union eight children were born. Surviving Alice is her mother Zillah Reed, four sons Ronnie Cox with his wife Kathy, Lyndon Cox, Erwin Cox with his wife Laura and Wesley Cox, three daughters Bev Murphy with her husband Sonny, Vicky Caswell with her husband Marcus, and Monica Valley with her husband Charles. Alice is also survived by one brother Kenneth Reed, two sisters Verna Butler and Audre Perkins with her husband Don, three sisters- in- law Genevieve Cox and Suzie Hall of Pennsylvania and Dorothy Cox of Belle. Alice has 22 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Cox, father Hershel Reed, brother Donnie Reed, son, John Cox, two grandchildren Charles Valley II, Travis Webster, two great, grandchildren Seth Champney, Faith Valley, and one nephew Mike Reed.
Alice worked for the International Shoe Co. and Thistle Inc. until her husband got sick. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved sewing, camping, fishing , and putting puzzles together.
Alice has lived with her daughter Monica Valley and husband Charles in Belle, Mo., for the past ten years. She will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.
