Bettie R. Green, age 96, of Belle, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, at Gasconade Manor in Owensville.
Bettie was born October 3, 1927, in Linn, a daughter to the late Frank V. and Bertha L. (Mantle) Butler.
Bettie was a lifelong area resident and attended Belle High School. She attended the R.L.D.S. Church in Belle before its closure.
On March 19, 1944, she was united in marriage to Uel Alva Green at the courthouse in Linn. Uel preceded her in death on September 16, 1999.
Bettie had been employed at the International Shoe Factory in Belle for 31 1/2 years before retiring. After retirement, she, along with Uel, enjoyed spending time at the clubhouse on the Gasconade where they would fish and boat, taking trips out west with their family, and going to auctions and garage sales to collect antiques. Bettie liked to keep a clean and tidy house and enjoyed cooking. Her beef and homemade noodles were famous among those who had the pleasure to enjoy them. She liked visiting with friends and family and told many stories of her life through her 96 years on earth. Her best times came from time spent with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bettie will be missed greatly by those that knew and loved her.
Bettie is survived by: one son, Burley Green and his wife Tammy of Owensville; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Green of Gasconade; one brother, Robert “Pete” Butler of Vichy; six grandchildren, Lisa Leathers and her husband Randon, John Green and his wife Macie, Chris Branson and his wife Cathrine, Danny Branson and his wife Megan, Julie Jackson and her husband Christopher, and Jena Kontz and her husband Greg; twelve great-grandchildren, Rhad, Reese, Mila, Gus, Coraline, Max, Maggie, James, Daniel, Elisabeth, Rebecca, and Andrew as well as many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband Uel, Bettie was preceded in death by one son, Harold Green and eight siblings, Shirley Stough, Pearl Prenger, Ervin Butler, Vic Butler, Ruby Redden, Voyd Butler, Donnie Butler, and Billy Butler.
Visitation for Betty will be on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ Belle Restoration Branch, 35024 Highway EE, Belle, Mo 65013, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Greg Kontz officiating.
