Bobbie Gene Hassler, 80, of Jefferson City died Saturday, Feb 26, 2011, at his home. Bob was born on June 30, 1930, in Belle. He was the son of the late Emmett and Minnie Lansford Hassler. On Aug 14, 1955, Bob was married to Joann Oliver and to this union three children were born.
Surviving Bob are two daughters, Bev Abel with her husband Ty of Belle and Becky Fernau with her husband Gene of Owensville; and one son Brian Hassler with his wife Tawnya of Jefferson City.
Bob's grandchildren are Sonya Hance with her husband Arthur, Tori Snitker with her husband Shannon, Kaci Jones with her husband Gavin, Shay Abel with his wife Victoria, Zach and Lindsey Hassler, Kody and Morgan Brown, Amanda Davidson with her husband Juston, Ashley Knight with her husband Eric, and Ethan Fernau. The great-grandchildren are Arthur and Mallory Hance, Catelyne and Cade Snitker, Lydia and Chloe Jones, and future great granddaughter Landri Mae Abel due April 1, 2011.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Joann on April 7, 2009. Also preceding Bob is a brother Keith Hassler and a sister Wanda Kottwitz.
Bob was a long time resident of Belle until his move to Jefferson City in March 2010. He was in the United States Marines from 1951-1953. After returning from the Marines, he worked with his brother-in-law Gene Kottwitz in his mechanic business. In 1966 he bought the Shell Service Station and he operated it until 1986. In his later years he worked at Mace Supermarket in Belle until his retirement.
