Boyd Earl Gieck

Boyd Earl Gieck, age 90, of Belle passed away Friday, March 7, 2025 at his residence surrounded by family.

Boyd was born May 28, 1934, in Koenig, a son to the late Virgil and Stella (Johnson) Gieck.

Boyd attended the Indian Creek school as a child and the Belle school system until the 7th grade when he had quit to take care of his mother. He was baptized at the Belle Baptist Church as a child. Boyd proudly served his country in the United States Army.

On October 30, 1959, he was united in marriage to Betty Walter at the preachers house in Bland. Betty survives of their home near Belle.

In addition to running the family farm, Boyd had been employed at International Shoe and following International’s closing, at Huntco in Bland. He retired after more than 20 years of employment. Boyd enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening and sitting in his favorite chair in the yard watching the wildlife and traffic on 89. He loved telling stories of his military days and younger days and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Above all, Boyd was a family man and loved the time spent with his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left behind to mourn Boyd include: his wife, Betty Lou Gieck of Belle; one son, Thomas Gieck of Belle; one daughter, Mary DiNatale and her husband Doug of Vienna; three grandchildren, Cherie James and her husband Chad of Vienna, Heather McPeak and her husband Michael of Jefferson City, and Derrick DiNatale and his wife Lucy of Argyle; seven great-grandchildren, Adelynn James, Teagan James, Koralynn Lanning, Maebri Lanning, Emary McPeak, Connor McPeak, and Ashlyn McPeak as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Boyd was preceded in death by three siblings, Mildred Gieck Woolley in 2002, Marie Gieck Reed in 2012, Gilbert Gieck, Sr in 2006, and one daughter-in-law, Bettyann Gieck in 2019.

Visitation for Boyd will be on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Sassaman’s Chapel in Belle from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Francis Cemetery near Belle.
