Christine Evelyn Biles, nee Blackwell, died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at 1:15 p.m. at Gasconade Manor Nursing Home in Owensville, MO, where she had resided 1 year, 4 months, and 4 days. She was 91 years, 5 months, and 17 days old.
Chris was born on February 2, 1918, in Kenner, MO. She is the daughter of the late George and Sophia Wyss Blackwell. On May 6, 1939, she was married to Harold Biles at Chamois, MO. They spent their entire married life in Bland. Chris worked at International Shoe Company, O'Sullivan's Industries, and Amex.
Surviving Chris is a son Leland with his wife Peggy of Owensville and two grand children Steven Biles and his wife Stacey of St. Charles, and Craig Biles and his wife Randie of Steelville. There are three great grand children Ryan, Jacob, and Lauren Biles, three step great grand children Cassie Wineinger, Ashleigh Parmenter, and Macie Parmenter, and two step great great grand children Olivia Wineinger, and Addison Niedergerke.
Chris is preceded in death by her husband Harold and a son Forrest Lee. Also preceding Chris are two brothers Amos and Leonard Blackwell and sisters Sadie Rector, Mae Gosnell, Allene Martin, and Lucille Jett.
Chris was a very active member of the Bland Christian Church for 70+ years. The kitchen was her pride and joy.
Services for Chris were held on July 21, 2009 from the Bland Christian Church. Interment was in Bland Union Cemetery.
