Cora Ellen (Cook) Steen, of Summerfield, passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side at St. Mary’s Hospital on Friday, July 5, 2024.
Cora was the daughter of the late George Cook and Dorothy (Walker) Cook who proceeds her in death. Cora was the 3rd oldest of 10 children.
She was united in marriage to Chester Raymond Steen on July 6, 1956. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2010.
Cora was a very kind, caring, nurturing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and great-great-great-grandmother. She is survived by: Chester ”Pete” and Sharon Steen of Belle, Rhonda Bates of Belle, Valerie and Bill Cooksey of Belle, Jan and Zac Fredendall of Summerfield, Shelly and Jeff Schweer of Summerfield, and Phyllis Bufford of Silex, Mo; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; one great granddaughter due in August; one sister, Brenda Martin of Belle; and one brother, Greg Cook of Belle as well as many extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester Steen in March 2010 and one son, Randy Steen in 2008.
Cora knew nothing but hard work her whole life and providing for her family. She retired in June of 2000 after working her whole life in some type of factory from a shoe factory to a cap factory. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, spending lots of time on the river with her whole family and going to rodeos to watch her grandchildren compete.
Cora was a lifelong member of the Liberty Church of Christ in Belle
Visitation for Cora will be on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Liberty Church of Christ from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. and interment will be in the Oak Forest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Liberty Church of Christ.
