Dannell "Danny" J. Campbell

Dannell “Danny” J. Campbell, age 56, of Owensville, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 at his residence.

He was born January 17, 1967 in Nuremberg, Germany, a son to the late Dorsey Jay Campbell and Elaine (Bunton) Campbell. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives of her home.

Danny was a 1985 graduate of Owensville high school, a lifelong area resident, and a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the Army Reserves and later joined the United States Navy where he served during the Persian Gulf War and retired from it after years of service. Danny loved his country, was very patriotic and was a longtime and active member of V.F.W. Post #6133 in Owensville where he served as the Senior Vice Commander and helped with the bingo for many years.

In June of 1985, Danny was united in marriage to Shari Basham. From this union a son, Daniel, and a daughter, Whitney, were born. Although they later divorced, Danny found love again and on February 5, 2001 he was united in marriage to Terri Markin. She preceded him in death On October 22, 2021.

Danny enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and liked camping out. Danny liked older country music and helping his father, Jay, in restoring the old cars and was in the middle of restoring a 57 Chevy until his health declined. He was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues. Danny was selfless and giving and would help anyone in need. His best times were time spent with his grandchildren and every year would go with them and the family to the last three St. Louis Cardinal home games. Danny will be missed tremendously by his family, friends, and anyone who knew and loved him.

In addition to his mother, Danny is survived by: one son, Daniel and his wife Kate of Chicago, IL; two granddaughters, Leah and Callie Campbell; one sister, Tracy Dawn Sovar and her husband Steve of Owensville; two brothers, Toby Clay Campbell and his wife Connie of Caanan and Dennis Dewayne Vaughn and his wife Shelia of Bourbon; four step-grandchildren, Marie, David, John, and Emmy; and his golden retriever, Pug as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
