Dorothy Davis Goodman passed away March 10, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Silverhill, Alabama.
Dorothy was born May 11th, 1924 in Higginsville, Missouri. Her parents were Arthur Davis and Myrtle Miles Davis. She was married on May 30th, 1942, to Kenneth James Goodman.
Dorothy is preceded in death by, her husband Kenneth, her daughter Vicki Smith, and her daughter Rebecca Mary Goodman.
She is survived by: her daughter Martha Steele and husband Chuck of Silverhill, Alabama and her son, John Robert Goodman of Summerdale, Alabama; She is also survived by her grandsons, Curtis Smith and wife Aimee of Mexico, Missouri, Derek Steele and wife Candis of Jacksonville, Florida, and Paul Steele and wife Megan and their daughter Ava of Robertsdale, Alabama. Dorothy also has three great- grandsons, Kurt Smith, Shawn Smith, and Orion Smith of Mexico, Missouri and seven great-great grandchildren; She is also survived by her brother, Stanley Davis of St. Clair, Missouri, her sister Shirley McClung of Springfield, Illinois, her sister Joan Story of Tallahassee, Florida, and her sister Launa Brown and husband Kenny of Sullivan, Missouri; Dorothy also has three brother-in-law’s, Bob Goodman of Belle, Missouri, Jerry Goodman of Bland, Missouri, and Bill Garstang of Republic, Missouri and sister-in-law, Darlitha Whithouse of Summerfield, Missouri. She also is survived by forty nieces and nephews.
Dorothy resided in Baldwin County, Alabama for many years, holding several jobs. Her most recent being the Council on Aging at age 82. Dorothy Davis Goodman, or MaMaw as she was known to many, can best be remembered for her contagious smile.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle. Funeral services will follow with Bro. Jimmy Bickell officiating. Interment will be at the Liberty Cemetery in Belle.
