Edna Mae Brown, age 93, peacefully went to Heaven on Sunday, May 7th, 2023 surrounded by family. Edna will be missed by all that knew her.
Edna Mae was born December 27, 1929 in Belle to the late Ray and Ada Jett. She graduated from Belle High School in May of 1947.On May 17, 1947, Edna was united in marriage to Earl Brown. They lived in the Belle and Bland community for the rest of their lives.
Edna was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she held various church offices. She especially loved Bible School and even transported neighborhood children in the back of her truck.
Edna helped Earl with the family dairy farm, however, always made time to feed whomever stopped by. She loved raking hay with the John Deere tractor and will be missed this year in the Belle Fair Parade. In recent years, she has enjoyed answering the phone and meeting new people at Owens Towing.
Edna was strong minded and resolute in her opinions. She found it hard to let others do for her. She was old school and proud of it. She spoke and others listened. She was known by most everyone as just Grandma and she will be remembered through the legacy of the family that remains behind.
Edna is survived by her four children: Michael Brown (Thelma) of Linn, and Sheryl Doss, Steve Brown (Debbie) and Kevin Brown (Cari) all of Belle. Eleven grandchildren: Donnie Brown (Carissa), Nikki Haslag (Tracy), Jared Newman, Jason Newman (Emily), Amy Forsythe (Nick), Andrew Brown, Aryn Brown, Kody Brown (Kelley), Morgan Otto (Derek), Travis Turnage (Stephanie), and Emmalee Turnage as well as twelve great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Edna is preceded in death by Earl, her husband of seventy years, her only sibling, Clarence E. Jett, and son-in law, James Doss.
Visitation for Edna will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday May 12th at Sassmann's Chapel in Belle.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Saturday, May13, 2023. Doug Lane and Mike Bonham officiating.
