Gene Allen Oldfather

Gene Allen Oldfather, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehab. 

 He was born on October 13, 1955, in Washington, Mo, a son to the late John and Patrica (Zulauf) Oldfather. 

 Gene was raised in Redbird and attended school in Bland. He was baptized when he was younger and his faith in God was strong. 

Gene had been married to Diana Shanks and she preceded him in death on January 5, 2020. 

 Gene loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, or just enjoying nature. He had a great sense of humor, was a bit ornery and a jokester, and liked to tell stories of days gone by. Gene put out a big garden every year and canned what he grew. He enjoyed visiting with anyone and was very faithful to his friends and family. Gene will be missed greatly by his family and those that knew and loved him. 

 Gene is survived by: one step-son, Darrell Louderback and his wife Allison of Wentzville; one grandson, Kylan Louderback; one brother, Phillip Oldfather and his wife Diane of Bland; three nieces, Jennifer Oldfather, Marcia Hollis and her husband Jeff, and Beth Brooks and her husband Madison; one nephew, David Oldfather and his wife Dayla; and one sister-in-law, Deni Oldfather of Bland as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. 

 He was preceded in death by father and mother, his wife, a brother John A. Oldfather, and an infant sister Patti. 

 Memorial services will be held at a later date and be announced by Sassmann’s Chapel.
