Gladys Adelheid Rohlfing of Centralia, formerly of Belle, died peacefully, Friday evening, January 4, 2013, in the Boone Hospital Center. She was 97. Gladys was born on July 16, 1915, in Feuersville, MO. She is the daughter of the late Charles Otto Ahrens and Golden M. Phelps Ahrens. Gladys was joined in marriage to Herman Rohlfing on December 30, 1934, in the parsonage of the Bland Methodist Church. Their marriage was blessed with one son Herman E. Rohlfing.
Surviving Gladys is her son Ed of Centralia. Also surviving is a brother Conley Ahrens of Marshall.
Gladys is preceded in death by her husband Herman, a brother Paul, and a sister Viola Taylor.
Gladys began her working life at the age of 14 in the glove factory in Bland. She worked for many years in the shoe factory in Belle. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Belle.
Visitation for Gladys will be on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from Sassmann Chapel in Belle. The visitation is from Noon to 2 p.m.
Service for Gladys will be at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville.
