Hazel M. Johnson, age 84 of Wentzville, formerly of Bland, passed away June, 26, 2015 at the Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab in Troy, Mo.
Hazel was born July 19, 1930 in Vienna, a daughter to the late Julius and Oma (Frey) Copeland.
She was a 1947 graduate of Vienna High School and a member of the First Baptist Church in Lake St. Louis.
On September 9, 1950 she was united in marriage to Donald Johnson in Bland. Don survives of their house in Wentzville.
Hazel was employed at the International Shoe Factory in Bland for 13 years and at the McGraw Hill Book Publishers in Manchester, MO for 28 years.
Hazel was a great seamstress and did several complete wedding ensembles. She made many beautiful, fancy dresses for her granddaughters and others. She loved to cook and was always generous with her smiles. Hazel was a devoted teacher to the little children at church and made Flannel graphs to teach them about the love of God. She will be missed greatly by those that knew and loved her.
Hazel is survived by: her husband of 64 years, Donald Johnson; one son, Phillip Johnson and his wife Jill of Troy; two granddaughters, Holli Johnson of Troy and Kelsey Brown of Jefferson City as well as many extended family member and friends.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Copeland.
Visitation for Hazel will be on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Sassmann's Chapel in Bland from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Bob Wood officiating. Interment will be at Highgate Cemetery near Belle.
