Ira Ross Licklider of Belle passed away Friday evening, May 14, 2010, in the Eldon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 83. Ira was born on September 15, 1926, in Cuba, Missouri. He is the son of the late Jacob Cook Licklider and Clara Myrtle Creek Licklider. Ira was first married to Lilly Etta McCune on June 21, 1947. They had four children, two sons Dennis and Gary, and two daughters Lois and Kay. Etta passed away in May of 1988.
On January 4, 1992, Ira remarried Bernice Schaller. Bernice has two sons Ronnie and Gary.
Surviving Ira is his wife Bernice, his daughters Kay Renstrom with her husband Art of Martinsburg and Lois Altemeyer with her husband Roger of Owensville, a son Dennis Licklider with his wife Roberta of Holts Summit, and two step sons Ronnie Schaller of Paris,Tennessee with his wife Cris, and Gary Schaller with his wife Barbara of Belle. There are 15 grand children and 13 great grand children.
Also preceding Ira in death is a son Gary Licklider and all of his brothers and sisters Herman Licklider, Alliene Conley, infant Ola Licklider, Iretta Spurgeon, Sylvia Jost, Chester Licklider, Les Licklider, Lucille Dunakey, and Lee Roy Licklider.
Ira worked in the shoe factory, as a construction worker in St. Louis, in the clay mines, and retired as a kiln operator at the Allied Chemical Plant in Owensville. He was Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Owensville VFW Post.
