James “J.D.” Sellers, age 93, of Belle, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Phelps Health in Rolla.
J.D. was born June 6, 1931, in Arlington, Il, a son to the late James Ross and Mildred (May) Sellers.
On June 21, 1952 he was united in marriage to Nancy Faye Haas at the preachers house in Salem. Nancy survives of the home in Belle.
J.D. was born on a farm in Illinois and it was where he learned the value of a good days work at the age of 4. He continued working hard until the age of 84. J.D. owned and operated the Conoco station in Rolla before driving a truck for Rawling Sporting Goods for a number of years. He then opened Sellers Auto sales in Rolla for a time before returning to the road as a tanker truck driver until he retired. J.D. was a great truck driver known for being able to handle any situation that would occur. He was a longtime member of Rolla Masonic Lodge #213 and member of the First Baptist Church in Belle. His faith in God was strong and he read his bible frequently. J.D. was a great joke teller with a great sense of humor, a huge St. Louis Cardinal fan who never missed a game, and a good mechanic and a body man. He enjoyed fishing and putting out a garden every year but above all, he was a family man. J.D. enjoyed coaching his son’s little league team, attending his kids events, and his greatest joy came from spending time with family. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed tremendously by those that knew and loved him
In addition to his wife of 72 years, J.D. is survived by: two children, Chris Sellers of Belle and Cindy Maxwell and her husband Larry of Rolla; four grandchildren, Travis Maxwell and his wife Dana, Brandon Maxwell and his wife Hannah, Christopher Sellers and his wife Ashley, and Kyle Sellers; seven great-grandchildren, Sophia, Desmond, Chase, Cruz, Wyatt, Faye, and Ellie as well as many extended family members and friends.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Debbie Kay Sellers.
Visitation for J.D. will be on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Belle Community Church from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the Belle Community Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Ozark Memorial Gardens in Rolla following the luncheon at the church.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Belle Community Church.
