James "Jim" R. Martin

James “Jim” Martin, age 75, of Manchester, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Big Bend Woods Healthcare Center in Valley Park.

Jim was born March 26, 1943, in St. Louis, a son to the late Cleo H. and Nedra Mae (King) Martin.  

He was a 1961 graduate of Valley Park High School.   

On December 31, 1976, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Kay Vandegriff in Manchester. Kay preceded him in death on December 20, 2017.

Jim loved his job and retired from Grocery Store management after over 40 years of employment.

Jim enjoyed bowling, playing softball, shooting pool, playing darts, hunting, playing golf, watching The Voice, American Idol, and especially the St. Louis Cardinal games. He enjoyed listening to older country music. Johnny Cash being one of his favorites. Jim will be missed greatly by those that knew and loved him.            

Jim is survived by: his children, Lynda Rix and husband Derrick of Eureka, MO, Jeff Farris and wife Corrine of St. Charles, MO, Debbie VanSickle of Maryland Heights, MO, Phillip Farris Jr. and wife Beth of Atlanta GA, Tammie Fobert and husband Pete of Sunset Hills, MO; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles K. Martin and wife Barbara of Columbia, MO as well as many extended family members and friends.  

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife Kay.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Sassmann’s Chapel, in Belle, with Pastor Shane Jarvis officiating. Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
