James "Jimmy" H. Jones

James H. “Jimmy” Jones, age 76, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City.

Jimmy was born November 21, 1948, in Sabinal, Texas, a son to the late Clarence and Margaret Lee (Pirtle) Jones.

He was a 1967 graduate of Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi Texas and a 30-year member of the Westside Church of Christ in Irving Texas as well as a long-time member of the Church of Christ in Vienna, MO. Jimmy was very proud to serve as a song leader for both churches.

In 1970, he married Cindy McCallum, with whom he had a son, Cory. Later, he married Karen Whittington, and they had a son, Nathan. While both of his ex-wives may have outlived him, Jimmy used to joke and say that he had a knack for surviving them.

Jimmy had been employed as a Machinist at R.E.I in Irving, Texas for over 20 years before moving to Missouri where he worked as a correctional officer for the Algoa Correctional Center for a time.

Jimmy enjoyed playing and coaching baseball as well as coaching little league in Irving. He was a big sports fan with the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers being his favorite teams and loved watching college football. Jimmy loved spending time at his mother’s place along the Frio River in Texas and many great memories were made there. He was humble, enjoyed making fun of himself, very giving, and had a great sense of humor. Jimmy was a loving father and grandfather and more than just a dad to his son’s but a friend as well. He will be missed greatly by those that knew and loved him.

Jimmy is survived by: two sons, Cory Jones and his wife Katelyn of San Francisco, CA and Nathan Jones of Belle; one granddaughter, Lana Jones; two nephews, John Jones and Chance Pride; one niece Keri Knapp; and many extended family members and friends to whom Jimmy was always a positive ray of light. They all agree that he was always bringing humor and lightheartedness to any situation.

Services for Jimmy will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the Vienna Church of Christ beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Vienna Church of Christ.
