Jasper Howard Wiles passed away March 25, 2010, in the Maries Manor nursing home in Vienna. He was 88. Jasper was born on February 1, 1922, in Maries County. He is the son of the late Gideon and Lula Green Wiles.
Jasper served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II. He earned three bronze stars and other medals for major battles in the war. When he returned from war he married Genevieve Seymour on August 29, 1945. To this union four children were born Gary, Jerry, Mark, and Kathy.
Jasper was a member of the Laborer's Union 840 and president of the union board for 20 years. He was a lifetime member of the Belle VFW post 3410, the DAV, and the American Legion. He was commander of the VFW Post for 15 years. Jasper loved the outdoors and when he retired from the union he and his son Jerry formed the "coyote club"
Surviving Jasper is his wife Genevieve, two sons Gary and Jerry, and a daughter Kathy Muir. Also surviving is a brother Ralph Wiles with his wife Bonnie of Dixon and a sister Louise Faulkner of San Antonio, TX. There are five grand children Sean, Jerod, Shannon Burke, Shay Burke, and Sonya Durbin, and five great grand children Blake and Nick Wiles of Wichita, KS, Garrett and Chase Durbin of Jefferson City, and Brendon Wiles of Bland. There are lots of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding Jasper in death is a son Mark who died in a car accident September 29, 1974. Also preceding Jasper are his parents, a sister Thelma Bade, and a brother Wilburn Wiles.
