Joyce Elaine Tipton, 63, of Vichy was called home to be with her mother and father again on Monday, November 28, 2016 at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia surrounded by her family. Joyce was born July 5, 1953 to Clyde and Neva (Robertson) Hohl and was married to Dennis Tipton on February 14, 1970. To this union, one daughter, Tonya Price and one son, Thad Tipton was born.
Joyce attended Belle High School where she married her high school sweetheart, Dennis. As the two young teenagers and their two month old daughter began their life together, they moved away from the familiarity of small town Missouri to Wichita, KS where Dennis went to Kansas Automotive School. Joyce worked at Long Manufacturing until the young couple returned to Jefferson City, Missouri. At that time Joyce worked for the State of Missouri and Dennis was employed with Midwest Auto Stores. Dennis was promoted to manage a company store in Fulton and the family moved to Fulton. Joyce worked for Callaway Electric Company until her and Dennis decided to return to their hometown roots and settled back in Vichy where she started her employment with Belle State Bank and Bank of Vichy. It was during this time that the family grew to four with the birth of their son Thad. Joyce has continued working for Belle State Bank and now The Maries County Bank where she has been employed for 39 years and advanced to her current position of President of the Belle Branch. Joyce is a member of the First Baptist Church in Belle.
Joyce was very talented and enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, crocheting, cooking, reading, helping her husband with their cattle business, her organizational skills and always having a clean organized home. Very rarely would you ever enter their home that everything wasn’t clean and in its place. Joyce’s pride and joy was her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life. Joyce was active in her children’s lives and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and put in many miles driving to ballgames and practices for both Tonya and Thad. She has continued supporting her grandchildren in all their many activities as well. Dennis and Joyce were very active in the establishment of the Vichy Volunteer Fire Department. There were many occasions where Joyce could be seen leaving the Bank of Vichy in her dress clothes to go open the fire department for the fire fighters and then continue on to the fire and help fight it. Joyce loved to fish in their family lake and sit outside and enjoy the sunset on the back patio of their home and watch the hummingbirds during the summer.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Dennis Tipton, of the home. Her daughter, Tonya Price, with her three sons Mason, Dalton and Skyler Price of Belle and her son Thad Tipton and his two children, Brayden and Ella Tipton of Vichy. Three sisters, Pattie Hohl and Tina Hohl of Belle and Norma Hohl of Jefferson City. Her mother-in-law Wilma Tipton, one brother-in-law David Tipton with his wife Shevawn all of Vichy as well as many extended family members and friends.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Neva (Robertson) Hohl of Belle; father-in-law, Bennie Leroy Tipton of Vichy; a sister-in-law Cheryl Daniels of St. Louis; and one infant sister, Lynn.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be made to the First Baptist Church in Belle or the YaYa Organization.
