Mary Magdalene Hafner, age 96 of Belle, entered her eternal home on Thursday, August 25, 2016.

Mary was born June 2, 1920, to the late John and Sophia (Picker) Baumgartner near Summerfield, MO. She was united in marriage to Leslie Hafner on September 21, 1940. They spent most of their life on their farm near Summerfield.

Mary was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Belle. Her faith in God has kept her leading a humble life offering a helping hand when asked. Her children remember the phrases they were raised with: "If you don't own it, don't touch it", "If you can't say anything good-keep your mouth shut", " Just because someone jumps off the bluff doesn't mean you have to follow - use your brain".

Mary is survived by her children: Sundra Mistler and husband Garry of Belle; Lester Mervin and wife Mary of Bland; and Steven Merrill and wife Janet of Holts Summit; as well as 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and one treasured family friend, Nola Tyree.

In addition to her husband Leslie (1993), Mary is preceded in death by: one daughter, Marian (1942); one son, Marlan (1953); two sisters and three brothers.

Visitation for Mary will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Belle.

Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Belle with Pastor David Roth officiating. Interment will be in Schaning Cemetery in Belle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of a contribution to the Schaning Cemetery Fund c/o Brian Mistler or Gene Nie.
