Robert "Bob" R. Chapman

Robert “Bob” R. Chapman, age 75, of Bland, passed away on December 14, 2023, at Evelyn’s Hospice House in St. Louis.   

He was born on September 19, 1948, in Washington but raised in Bland, a son to the late Roy and Ella (Picker) Chapman.

Bob was a lifelong area resident, a 1967 graduate of Bland High School and a member of the Leduc Little Country Church. Following high school, Bob served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. He was a member of V.F.W. Bledsoe Bulas Post #6133 in Owensville.

On December 10, 2016, he was united in marriage to Linda McIntire at the Leduc Church near Bland. Linda survives of the home.

Bob had been employed at Chrysler in Fenton before retiring after 31 years of employment. After retirement, Bob began farming and it was something he loved to do. He enjoyed all aspects of it from the hay hauling to the care for the cattle.

Bob enjoyed going on vacations, being outside in summer and fall, and visiting with others. He was very sociable and made friends wherever he went. Bob enjoyed the yearly visits with his Vietnam buddies who knew him as the General. Bob was strong-willed and sentimental as well as generous and caring. He would always put others needs ahead of his own and was always willing to help out others who were in need. Most of all, Bob loved his family and the times spent with them.

Bob is survived by:  his wife, Linda Chapman of Bland; three sons, Cory Chapman and his wife Patty of Bland, Jason Chapman of Owensville, and Darron Chapman; two granddaughters, Caitlyn Backer and her husband Landen and Jordon Wittmaier; one grandson, Evan Wittmaier; and one sister, Joyce Biles and her husband Roger of Owensville as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Roy and Ella, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne Chapman and one sister, Delores Langenberg.

Visitation for Bob will be on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Sassmann’s Chapel in Bland from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the Leduc Little Country Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.
