Ronald E. Guffey, age 77, of Belle, passed away Friday, December 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. 

 

Ronald was born December 11, 1945, in Rolla, a son to the late Edwin and Madonna Elizabeth (Luebbert) Guffey.

 

Ronald was a 1963 graduate of Newberg High School and a longtime member of the St. Alexander Catholic Church and the Pine Ridge Golf Course in Belle. He served 6 years in the National Guard.

 

On November 6, 1965 he was united in marriage to EllaRae Garstang in Rolla. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2016.

 

Ronald had been employed at Southwestern Bell/AT&T for 34 years before retiring. Following retirement, he began working for his son at his company, American Realty & Development and worked there for 20 years.

 

Ronald enjoyed playing golf, watching the KC Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Mizzou games and playing solitaire on the computer. He loved to BBQ and travel. He and EllaRae took the family on many trips through the years. After she passed, he took yearly trips with his daughter, Donna and recently went with  family and friends to Ireland. He had visited almost every state in the US. He was good hearted man who liked to laugh and was a bit of a jokester. Ronald was the family rock who held the family together through hard times as well as keeping the peace when those times would arise. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

 

Ronald is survived by: three children, Keith Guffey and his wife Aimee of Belle, Kevin Guffey and his wife Brendaleigh of Belle, and Donna Hinson and her husband David of Belle; 9 grandchildren, Veronica Henry and her husband Joe of Belle, Donica Guffey of Belle, Wade Guffey and his wife Logan of Belle, Paul Guffey and his wife Sam of Williamsburg, VA, Tanner Hinson and his wife Kelsie of Belle, Madeline Mayo and her husband Bodhi of Belle, Alex Hinson and his wife Brooke of Belle, Abby Hinson and her fiancé Seth Perkins of Belle, and Emily Columma and her husband Jerek currently serving in Japan; 12 great-grandchildren, Blake Umlauf, Lyla Henry, Mia Guffey, Hailey Rector, Brock Guffey, Norah Guffey, Reid Guffey, Henry Guffey, Ella Rae Guffey, Ryker Hinson, Ella Mayo, and Hadley Rae Hinson; 5 siblings, Darlene Bramel and her husband Mark of Rolla, Marilyn Hoke and her husband Rodney of Manchester, PA, Joe Guffey and wife Dora of Ashland, Steve Guffey and his wife Nikki of Newberg, Jimmy Guffey and his wife Sara of Hallsville, and  Richard (Poose) of Columbia as well as many extended family members and friends.

 

In addition to his parents and his wife of 50 years, Ronald was preceded in death by granddaughter, Monica Elizabeth Guffey Azzam, brothers Albey Guffey and  Bill Guffey.

 

Visitation for Ronald will be on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m.

 

Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the St. Alexanders Catholic Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Memorial gardens near Bland. 

 

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Alexander Sodality or the Belle Jr. Golf Association.
