Roy Edwin Heyer of Rolla, formerly of Belle, died Thursday, November 25, 2010, in a Jefferson City hospital. He was 61. Roy was born on April 19, 1949, in Washington, MO. He is the son of the late Herbert and Nellie Ridenhour Heyer. On April 19, 1969, Roy was married to Connie Beesley in the Salem United Methodist Church in Bland.
Surviving Roy is his wife Connie and two sons Roy Jr. with his wife Tracy with their three children Drew, Noah, and Natalie, and Wes with his wife Susie and their children Trenton and Corey. Also surviving Roy is a brother Steven with his wife Nancy of Taos.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents and an infant son Joshua.
Roy graduated salutatorian from the Belle High School. He worked and retired from the Missouri Department of Corrections. Most of his career was with the Missouri State Prison and the last four years with the Jefferson City Correctional Center. He retired in June of 2008. Roy was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting coins and baseball cards. Roy wrote and published in the Belle Banner the column, Behind the Walls. His column featured his experiences while working in the maximum security prison. Roy and Connie attended the Flag Springs Full Gospel Church.
