Roy “Jim” J. Bacon, age 74, of Belle passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at his residence.
Jim was born August 18, 1947, in Belle, a son to the late Roy Nelson and Bernice (Hassler) Bacon.
He was a 1965 graduate of Belle High School and received his degree in auto mechanics from Linn Tech in Linn. Jim was a lifetime area resident and a member of the First Baptist Church in Belle. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam.
Jim was employed at Bull Moose Tube Company for 20 years before branching off to start his own steel business in Stover, Mo. He then returned home to Belle and owned and operated Bacon Steel and Supply until his retirement in 2010.
Jim was a lifetime member of the NRA and member of Masonic Lodge #373 in Belle. He was very educated in firearms and could answer any question about them if someone asked. Jim enjoyed going to gun shows and basically being on the go. He never met a stranger and loved to visit with people. Most of all he loved being with his family and especially his wife, Mary Lou. Hardly ever separated, they were together for 54 years. Jim will be missed greatly his family, friends, and anyone who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by: one son, Andrew Bacon of Belle; one daughter, Rebecca Bacon Fisher and her husband Russell of Belle; and one granddaughter, Alexis Bacon as well as many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Nelson and Bernice (Hassler) Bacon.
Visitation for Jim will be on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Belle beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Robert Trigo officiating. Interment will follow in the Pilot Knob Cemetery with full military honors.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Baptist Church or to the Pilot Knob Church Cemetery.
