Ruth Gertrude Spalding

Ruth Gertrude Spalding, mother of Charlotte Pretre of Bland, died early Saturday morning, January 28, 2012, in the Gasconade Manor nursing home. She was 95. Ruth was born on May 29th, 1916, in Cabool, MO. She is the daughter of the late Theodore and Mabel Putnam Moore. On March 9, 1938, Ruth was married to Claude Leroy Spalding and to this union two daughters were born.
Surviving Ruth is her daughter Charlotte Pretre, three grand children Donald, David, and Deanna, three step grand children John, Laura, and Sharon, eighteen great grand children, and one great great grandson.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, a daughter Iona, two brothers Herbert and Robert, and a sister Beulah.
Ruth lived and worked in a lot of communities during her life. She lived in the state of Washington for a few years and then moved back to MO. For several years she lived and worked as a cook in the Amity Public Schools near St. Joseph. She worked for National Bellas Hess Catalog Co in Kansas City. She lived in Albuquerque, NM, Emporia, KS, Bellevue, NE, Garden City, MI and Rockaway Beach, MO, before moving to Bland. A private service is planned in Amity, MO.
