Shirley Sue Morgan

Shirley Sue Morgan, age 83 of Kansas City passed away Saturday January 25, 2025 at Hospice House at North Kansas City Hospital following a short illness.

 Sue was born April 1, 1941 in Maries County, the eleventh of eleven children born to the late Boley and Ella (Hutchison) Elrod.

Sue was Baptist by faith, was baptized when she was young and faithful throughout her life. Her last home church was the First Baptist Church of Clinton were she and Ed volunteered for years.

Sue graduated from Belle High School in 1958. She worked in area factories while she was single.

On April 20, 1963 she was united in marriage with Ed Morgan. To this union, two children were born. Anthony (Tony) Edwin and Ellen Ann. They made their home in the St. Louis area, with the majority of the time living in Fenton, Missouri. Sue was a homemaker until her children were out of elementary school. She retired in 1999 from Lucent Technology. She and Ed retired to Clinton, Missouri.

Sue enjoyed fishing, gardening, and going to garage sales. She enjoyed spending time with family playing cards. One of her greatest joys was becoming a Granny and spoiling her grandsons.

In addition to her parents and husband of over 50 years, Sue was preceded in death by her daughter Ellen, her ten siblings: brothers Charley, Perry, Boley Jr, Clarence and Russell Elrod: and sisters Ruby Backues, Aimee Klebba, Thelma Heck, Wilma Cassie, and Jessie Licklider.

Sue is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Kim Morgan of Platte City, MO; her grandson Bradley Morgan of Independence, MO and Chris Morgan of Platte City, MO. One siter-in-law and brother-in-law, Erma and Buck Drewel of Belle, MO, and many nieces and nephews.

Sue was fiercely loyal to her family and had a very generous heart. She will be missed and fondly remembered by all of those that knew and loved her.

 Visitation for Shirley will be on Saturday, February 1, 2015 at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with interment in Skaggs’s Chapel Cemetery.
