Shirley Mae Pennington

Shirley Mae Pennington, age 78, of Richmond, Mo, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her loving family

Shirley was born February 3, 1936, in Jefferson City, a daughter to the late Leo and Emma (Bryan) Wickers.

On February 14, 1953, Shirley was united in marriage to John Wesley Pennington, Jr in Jefferson City. John preceded her in death.

Shirley had a job she loved. She was a homemaker. Together with John they raised five children and from the children came fifteen grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren. Her biggest joy in life was being a wife, mother and especially being "Grandma Penny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by: one son, John Wesley Pennington III and his wife Karolyn of Omaha, NE; four daughters, Pamela Sue Lewis and her husband Mike of Richmond, MO, Paula Jon Riddell and her husband Larry of Kansas City, MO, Patricia Ann Clevenger and her husband Norman Jr. of Richmond, MO and Peggy Kay Baker and her husband Richie of Richmond, MO; one brother, Leo Anthony Wickers, Jr. of Russellville, MO; one sister, Melba Lee Bommel of Holts Summit, MO; fifteen grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by: two brothers, Clarence Elvin and John Wesley Wickers; one sister, Patricia Agatha Colter and two great-grandchildren, John Wesley Pennington V and Emily Grace Pennington.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the College Hill Cemetery in Belle, MO.
