Shirley H. Ridenhour

Shirley H. Ridenhour, age 84, of Belle passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Linn.  

Shirley was born on December 27, 1933, in the Belle area, a daughter to the late Herbert and Pearl (West) Ridenhour.     

She attended the Buck Elk School as a child and was a lifelong member of the Pilot Knob Church. Shirley was very dedicated to her Bible as well as her church and taught Sunday School there for many years. She was a lifelong member of the Belle area.

Shirley has been employed at both the International Shoe company in Belle and the Brown Shoe Company in Owensville. She also worked at the Top This Hat Company in Vienna for a time.

Shirley enjoyed the simple things in life and loved helping people. She always liked to give more than she took. Although she never had children of her own, Shirley was known as grandma by many members of the family. She was the keeper of the “family archives” and if anyone had a question about a family member, she would always have the answer. Shirley loved her family and loved spending time with them. She will be missed greatly by them and those that knew her.

Shirley is survived by: her siblings, James Ridenhour and his wife Judy of Belle, Stanley Ridenhour and his wife Della of Belle, Gary Ridenhour and his wife Cathy of Belle, and Audrey Holliday and her husband Melvan of Russellville; one sister-in-law, Deanna Ridenhour; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents Shirley is preceded in death by two brothers, Hadley Ridenhour and his wife Betty, and Ronnie Ridenhour, as well as two nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Pilot Knob Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
