Stanley Eugene Shockley

Stanley Eugene Shockley, age 92, of Bland, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Stonebridge of Owensville Nursing Facility. 

 

He was born on March 3, 1932, in Bland, a son to the late Fred and Oma Shockley. 

 

Stanley was a 1954 graduate of Belle High School. After graduation, Stanley proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 7 years and 6 months. He received his certificate in welding, which he received and A in, while in the Air Force and worked as a welder in both Texas and Missouri for over 30 years. He also had been employed at Mace’s Supermarket in Belle up until a month before his 80th birthday. 

 

On February 22, 1952 he was united in marriage to Shirley Chew. She preceded him in death on March 14, 2002.    

 

Stanley enjoyed fixing and collecting oil lamps which he would give as gifts to people. He was kind and giving man who always helped out other in need. His hobbies included watching westerns and putting together jig saw puzzles. Stanley liked being outside on walks and going out for Mexican food. Stanley was kind, and humble with a great sense of humor and will be missed greatly by those that know and loved him. 

 

Stanley is survived by: 4 children, Stanley Ray Shockley, Rebecca Renfro, Penny Miller, and Kenneth Shockley; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. 

 

In addition to his wife and parents, Stanley was preceded in death by, one son Danny Shockley and two sisters, Ruth Buddemeyer and Ethel Hollingsworth. 

  

Services for Stanley will be held at a later date and be announced by Sassmann’s Chapel.
