Sylvia Nadine Walker of Belle died Sunday, July 10, 2011, in the Frene Vally Nursing Home in Owensville. She was 93. Sylvia was born on January 18, 1918, in Maries county. She is the daughter of the late Walter Clinton Ammerman and Ethel Rae Terrill Ammerman. Sylvia was married to Lester Austin Walker. They were blessed with three daughters.
Surviving Sylvia are two daughters Donna with her husband James Leroy Smith of St. James and Vondenia Maples with her husband Harold of Holts Summit. There are eight grand children, seventeen great grand children, and eight great great grand children.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband Lester and a nine year old daughter Jilletta. Sylvia is also preceded by all of her brothers and sisters Borden Ammerman, Pansy Campbell, Ruby Hawkins, mabel Love, Juanita Stienmeier, Edyth Southard, Connie Ridenhour, Dorothy Goggin, and Nora Hale.
Sylvia worked for many years in the California Manufacturing jacket factory in St. James. Sylvia and Lester also owned and operated the Walker's Restaurant in Belle. The Belle First Baptist Church recognizes Sylvia as their oldest member.
Services for Sylvia will be held on Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM in the Sassmann's Chapel in Belle. Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
A visitation for Sylvia will begin at 5:00 on Tuesday evening in the Sassmann's chapel.
