Terrance "Mac" Richard McLaughlin of Bland died Saturday, May 5, 2012 in route to Phelps County Regional Medical Center. He was 72. Terrance was born January 27, 1940 to Mary Gripps, in St. Louis and then was given to Catholic Charities where he was adopted by Oliver and Catherine McLaughlin who had raised him as their own son. Terrance married his sweetheart Betty Blackenship on June 13, 1964 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Louis and to this union 5 children was born.
Surviving Terrance is his wife Betty of 48 years who resides of the home, 3 daughters Kathey McLaughlin and friend Greg West of Owensville, Tracey McLaughlin of Rolla, Kelley McLaughlin and friend Ken Farnsworth of Owensville, 2 sons, Richard McLaughlin and friend Cindy McLaughlin, and Thomas Allen McLaughlin all of Bland, a brother, Larry Gripps of St. Louis, 19 grand children and 10 great grandchildren. Terrance is preceded by his parents, Oliver and Catherine McLaughlin and a grand daughter Angel Marie Buechter.
Terrance served as a St.Louis City police officer for 15 years. In 1989 Terrance and Betty moved to a farm in Bland. He worked for Lahmeyer Dairy and in various factories over the years. He also worked for Owensville 3-5 Center as a night custodian. Terrance will forever be remembered for his humorous approach to life. Terrance will be sadly missed by family and friends.
