Wanda L. Mitchell, age 83, of Belle, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at her residence.
Wanda was born January 18, 1936, in Bartlesville, OK, a daughter to the late Fred and Velma (Woods) Vandgrifft.
Wanda was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church. She attended the Belle School System and later received her G.E.D.
On September 19, 1952 she was united in marriage to Olin Mitchell in Bland. Olin survives of their home near Belle.
Wanda had worked at multiple jobs throughout her life including factories and as a Nurses Aid at the Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City as well as the Veterans Home in St. James. She was well known in the Belle area as a Beautician for fifteen years.
Wanda enjoyed reading, gardening and embroidering. She had made quilts for many of her grandchildren. Wanda liked to watch the “Young and the Restless” and loved to go to church but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Wanda will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband of 66 years, Wanda is survived by: one son, Gerald Mitchell and his wife Norma of Rolla; two daughters, Thelma Brown and her husband Mike of Linn, and Karen Brown and her husband Morris if Bland; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter on the way; one brother, Terry Vandgrifft of Florida; and one sister Marlene Woods of Florida as well as many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Wanda is preceded in death by two brothers, Ted Vandgrifft and an infant brother and two sisters, Emma Louise “Doll” Vandgrifft and Darlene Campbell.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. in the Francis Cemetery.
